About us
Owner, Zach Beland
My path into residential construction wasn't traditional. I began my career in customer service, where I learned that understanding people's goals is just as important as solving their problems. I later worked in software engineering and systems engineering, developing a structured, analytical approach to breaking down complex problems into practical solutions. Along the way, I also spent a few years as an electrical apprenticeship, giving me hands-on experience with building systems.
In 2015, I was attempting to make my small apartment room quieter and discovered a passion for understanding how homes are built and why they succeed, or fail. That curiosity grew into years of hands-on renovation projects, extensive self-study, and eventually the creation of my DIY YouTube channel, Down to the Frame, where I documented my personal projects and shared all the highs and lows or home renovation.
Over time, I realized my greatest strength wasn't simply understanding construction, it was helping homeowners bridge the gap between what they know they wanted, what they didn’t know they wanted, and what was technically, financially, and practically achievable. That realization has now become BuildVise.
I believe homeowners deserve more than sales pitches or biased opinions. They deserve clear, objective, trustworthy guidance that helps them make confident decisions about one of the largest investments of their lives. That's the purpose of BuildVise.
